Introduction:

Begin by discussing the construction of pyramids using massive stone blocks stacked layer by layer. Show students a cross-section of a pyramid from “The Story of Buildings” to illustrate this concept.
Building the Pyramid:

Set up a tray on the craft table for students to build their sugar cube pyramids. Provide each student with sugar cubes.
Allow students to start building their pyramids, beginning with a small structure and gradually making it larger. Encourage them to stack the cubes layer by layer.
Coloring the Sugar Cubes:

Prepare a mixture of water and yellow food coloring (10-15 drops) in a container.
Demonstrate how to use the eye dropper to apply the colored water to the sugar cubes. Let students use the eye dropper to color their sugar cubes, one by one.
As the cubes become saturated, discuss with students how the water dissolves the sugar and observe the changes.
Sensory Exploration:

Allow students to explore the sensory aspect of the activity. Encourage them to notice how the sugar cubes dissolve when water is applied and how they can crush the cubes.
Reflection:

Gather students and discuss their experiences. Ask questions about their building process and how the colored cubes changed. Discuss what they learned about pyramid construction and the effects of water on sugar cubes.
