Tópico: Food Chains
Ano escolar: 3rd | 4th

Materials Required:

Large sheets of construction paper or card stock
Scissors
Glue sticks or liquid glue
Markers, crayons, or colored pencils
Rulers (optional, for neat lines)
Images or drawings of forest animals (can be printed or hand-drawn)
Steps Involved:

Introduction: Explain the concept of a food chain pyramid and how it shows the different levels of organisms in an ecosystem, from producers at the bottom to top predators at the top.
Designing the Pyramid: Provide each student with a large sheet of construction paper. Instruct them to draw and cut out a pyramid shape divided into different levels (e.g., producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers, top predators).
Creating Artwork: Have students draw or paste images of forest animals onto each level of the pyramid. The base of the pyramid should include producers (e.g., plants), followed by primary consumers (e.g., herbivores), secondary consumers (e.g., small carnivores), and top predators (e.g., large carnivores).
Labeling: Students will label each level of their pyramid with the names of the animals and their roles (e.g., “producer,” “primary consumer”). They can also add additional details about each organism if desired.
Assembling the Pyramid: Students will glue their pyramid pieces together to create a 3D effect, if desired. They can use a fold-and-glue technique to make the pyramid stand upright or simply display it flat.
Presentation: Ask students to present their food chain pyramids to the class, explaining the different levels and how energy flows through the forest ecosystem.
Review: Review the pyramids with the class, discussing the importance of each level in the food chain and addressing any questions or observations about the food chain pyramid.
