Materials Required:
Heart rate graphing page (with spaces for recording numbers)
Stopwatch or timer
Pencil or pen
Optional: Exercise equipment or space for physical activities
Steps Involved:
Have each student take their resting pulse by counting their heartbeats for 15 seconds and recording the number on the graphing page.
Engage students in physical activities such as running a few laps, doing 20 jumping jacks, or dancing for one minute.
Immediately after the activity, have students take their heart rate again and record the number on the graphing page.
Guide students in plotting their heart rate data on a graph to visualize the changes.
Discuss why the heart rate increases with physical activity, what this means for the body, and the importance of regular exercise for cardiovascular health.
