Materials Required:

Liquid glue
Watercolors (shades of green and white)
Watercolor paintbrushes
Heavy card stock or watercolor paper
Scissors (optional)
Painting aprons
Steps Involved:

Preparation:

Tape down the watercolor paper onto the table or a tray to prevent warping and create a crisp white border.
Set out watercolors in shades of green and white, along with paintbrushes and liquid glue.
Creating the Glue Design:

Show students how to squiggle glue all over the paper to create lines that will represent lettuce leaves. Encourage them to make a round head of lettuce or any design they prefer.
Allow students to squeeze the glue from the bottle, which helps strengthen their hand muscles.
Drying Time:

Let the glue dry completely. This may take overnight or several hours, so plan accordingly.
Painting the Lettuce:

Once the glue is dry, invite students to paint their lettuce leaves using shades of green, yellow, and white watercolors.
Provide small paintbrushes and encourage students to use different colors to create texture and depth in their lettuce craft.
Finishing Touches:

Allow the painted crafts to dry completely before removing the tape.
Discussion and Reflection:

Have students share their artwork and discuss their painting techniques and color choices.
Reinforce the concept of creating textures and layers in their artwork.
Clean-Up:

Assist students in cleaning up their painting area and putting away materials.
