Tactile footprints (colorful and textured)
Open space for jumping
Tape or markers to secure footprints in place
Preparation: Place tactile footprints on the floor, creating a path with a designated starting and ending point. Ensure the footprints are spaced appropriately for the child’s jumping ability.
Introduction: Explain to the students how the footprints indicate where to start and where to land. Encourage them to feel the texture of the footprints with their feet, helping to activate the muscles as they prepare to jump.
Jumping Activity: Have the students stand on the starting footprints. On your signal, they will jump to the next set of footprints, making sure to land with both feet on the marks.
Repetition and Variation: Repeat the jumps multiple times, adjusting the distance between the footprints as needed to challenge the students. You can also introduce different patterns or paths for the students to follow.
Review and Cool Down: After completing the jumps, guide students through a brief cool-down by stretching their legs and discussing how their feet felt on the textured footprints.
