Creating and Labeling a Model of Earth’s Layers

Disciplina: Ciências | Geografia
Ano escolar: 3.º ano | 4.º ano | 5.º ano
Tipo de Recurso:
Tags:

Colored chart paper (for Earth’s layers)
Glue sticks
Pencils (for writing descriptions and labeling)
Blue, green, red, orange, and yellow cloth
Plain white paper (for the base)
Prepare the Base:

Provide each student with a sheet of plain white paper.
Crafting Earth’s Layers:

Distribute colored chart paper and glue sticks.
Students will use colored chart paper to create sections representing the Earth’s layers: crust (yellow), mantle (orange), outer core (red), and inner core (red).
Have students cut and glue these layers onto the plain white paper, arranging them from the outermost layer to the innermost layer.
Labeling and Description:

Using pencils, students will write descriptions and label each part of their model.
Ensure they clearly label the crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core on their model.
Demonstrating Earth’s Surface:

Distribute blue, green, red, orange, and yellow cloth.
Students will use the blue cloth to represent the water on Earth, and the green cloth to represent land.
They will then use the orange and red cloths to cover half of their blue and green cloth to represent the mantle, outer core, and inner core.
Final Touches:

Students will paste their cloth models onto the colored chart paper model to show the relationship between the Earth’s layers and its surface.
Display both the chart paper model and the cloth representation for a complete view of Earth’s structure.
