Washi tape or masking tape
Whiteboard markers
Whiteboards (one per pair of students)
Tables (or large surfaces where tape can be applied)
Introduction to Angles:
Begin with a brief lesson on the different types of angles: acute, right, obtuse, and straight.
Explain the characteristics of each angle type and how to identify them.
Setting Up the Activity:
Tape up a table or large surface using washi tape or masking tape to create various angles. Arrange the tape to form angles of different sizes.
Pair up students so that each pair has a whiteboard, a marker, and access to the taped table.
Classifying Angles:
Instruct students to use their whiteboard markers to classify the angles they see on the taped table. They should label each angle as acute, right, obtuse, or straight.
Allow students to take turns marking angles on the table and classifying them on their whiteboards.
Collaborative Work:
Encourage students to discuss their classifications with their partners, explaining why they classified each angle in a particular way.
Walk around the classroom to provide support and guidance as needed.
Discussion and Reflection:
After all angles have been classified, gather the class and discuss the findings. Review the different types of angles and correct any misunderstandings.
Reflect on the activity and how the hands-on approach helped in understanding angles.
Optional Extension:
Challenge students to create their own angle designs using tape on additional surfaces and classify the angles they create.
Introduce more complex angles or additional angle-related concepts, such as complementary or supplementary angles.
