Materials Required:
Cardboard sheet (large enough to draw a human body outline)
Play dough in the following colors:
Red (esophagus and stomach)
Orange (liver)
Yellow (pancreas)
Light blue (large intestine)
Dark blue (small intestine)
Markers or pencils for drawing the body outline
Steps Involved:
Provide each student with a large cardboard sheet and have them draw the outline of a human body on it.
Explain the function and location of each organ in the digestive system.
Distribute the different colors of play dough to the students.
Guide the students to model the esophagus and stomach using red play dough, and place them on the appropriate areas of the body outline.
Use orange play dough to model the liver and position it in the upper right area of the abdomen.
Create the pancreas using yellow play dough and place it slightly below and behind the stomach.
Model the large intestine with light blue play dough, arranging it in a large loop around the abdomen.
Use dark blue play dough to form the small intestine, which should be coiled within the loop of the large intestine.
Review the model with the students, ensuring they understand the function and placement of each organ in the digestive system.
