Materials Required:
Large floor space
Chalk or masking tape for drawing the pyramid on the floor
Food cut-outs (pictures or models representing different food groups)
Labels for each section of the pyramid (e.g., Grains, Vegetables, Fruits, Dairy, Protein, Fats & Sweets)
Steps Involved:
Begin by introducing the concept of the food pyramid and explaining the different food groups it represents.
Use chalk or masking tape to draw a large food pyramid on the floor, dividing it into the appropriate sections.
Distribute the food cut-outs among the students, ensuring a variety of items from each food group.
Have the students work together to place each food item on the correct shelf of the pyramid.
As the students place the cut-outs, discuss the importance of each food group and how much of each should be included in a balanced diet.
After completing the pyramid, review the placement of the food items to ensure accuracy and reinforce learning.
Optionally, have students think of other foods that could fit into each section of the pyramid and discuss their choices.
