Introduction (10 minutes):
Discuss the importance of Earth Day and the concepts of reduce, reuse, and recycle.
Explain the project: students will create lap books to showcase their research and understanding of these concepts.
Research (20 minutes):
Divide students into small groups or pairs and assign each group one of the 3 R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle).
Provide research materials and guide students in gathering information, facts, and examples related to their assigned topic.
Lap Book Creation (30 minutes):
Distribute file folders or construction paper to each student or group.
Instruct students to create their lap books by folding the paper or using the file folders as the base. They should include sections for their research findings, illustrations, and any additional information about their assigned R.
Encourage students to use markers, colored pencils, and decorative items to make their lap books visually appealing.
Assembling and Finalizing (15 minutes):
Allow students time to finalize their lap books, ensuring that all sections are complete and well-organized.
Assist with any final touches or adjustments needed.
Display Preparation (15 minutes):
Arrange a designated area in the school for displaying the lap books.
Have students set up their lap books for display, ensuring each book is easily visible and accessible.
Presentation and Display (20 minutes):
Host a presentation event where students can share their lap books with their peers, teachers, and other school members.
Encourage students to explain their findings and discuss the importance of the 3 R’s.
Reflection (10 minutes):
Reflect on the activity by discussing what students learned about the 3 R’s and their impact on the environment.
Discuss how students can apply these concepts in their daily lives to contribute to environmental conservation.
