Introduction:

Discuss the role of archery in medieval times, including its use in hunting and warfare. Explain how archery skills were essential for many people, not just knights.
Make a Simple Bow:

Select and Prepare the Bow: Choose a flexible branch or dowel and trim it to the desired length for the bow. The bow should be about the height of the person using it.
Attach the String: Tie one end of the string or yarn to one end of the bow. Stretch the string to the other end and secure it tightly. Ensure the string is taut but not overly tight.
Create Arrows:

Prepare the Arrow Shafts: Use craft sticks or straws as the arrow shafts. Cut them to a suitable length, typically around 12-18 inches.
Add Fletching: Attach feathers or foam to one end of each arrow shaft using tape or glue. This will help stabilize the arrows in flight.
Make Arrow Tips: Optionally, create simple arrow tips using small pieces of paper or foam, and attach them to the other end of the arrow shaft.
Practice Archery:

Safety First: Ensure a safe area for practicing archery. Set up targets if available, and have students practice shooting their arrows at the targets.
Archery Technique: Demonstrate the basic technique for drawing and releasing the bowstring. Encourage students to practice proper stance, aim, and release.
Reflect and Discuss:

Share Experiences: Allow students to share their experiences and thoughts on practicing archery. Discuss what they learned about medieval archery and the skills involved.
Reflect on Skills: Talk about the physical skills required for archery, such as hand-eye coordination, strength, and precision. Discuss how these skills were important in medieval times.
Extension Activity (Optional):

Archery History Lesson: Provide additional information on the history of archery, including famous archers and notable battles where archery played a significant role.
